Chiller glycol in winter: more than a concentration check
During winter, glycol chiller failures often begin with the fluid.
As ambient temperatures fall, inadequate glycol concentration, poor fluid condition and unmanaged water quality can leave chillers, exposed pipework, dry coolers and other system components vulnerable to freezing, restricted flow, corrosion and damage.
Checking glycol concentration is therefore an essential part of winter preparation. But it should not be the only one.
